How Do I Link My Credit Card To My Chase Account? (Explained)

How Do I Link My Credit Card To My Chase Account? (Explained)

One of the glorious benefits of Chase, and the Chase app especially, is the ability to link all your accounts and cards.  Essentially you can put all your financial tools in the same toolbox.  So, if you want to add your credit card to that toolbox by linking it to your Chase account, here’s how.

If you have a Chase credit card, it should automatically link to the Chase account through which you got it.  To link a different credit card, you must sign into the app and manually add the credit card as an external account.  You can also use the app to link Chase cards from other accounts.

Linking your credit card shouldn’t take more than a few minutes if you know how.  However, you will need to follow different steps if you are trying to link an external credit card versus linking a Chase card from a different account.  But don’t stress; we’ll help you through both scenarios.

Linking Your Credit Card To Your Chase Account Is Easy

How To Link An External Credit Card To Your Chase Account

If your credit card is with a different bank, you can still link it to your Chase account as an ‘external account.’

Once you have signed into your Chase app, start by swiping left on your main checking account.  This will open a few options from which you need to select “transfer.”  After this, another pop-up menu will appear, where you need to select “manage external accounts.”

Then select the option to “add an external account.”  From here, you will need to search for the relevant bank of your credit card.  Once you have found that bank, select “next” and accept the terms and conditions.

You will then be prompted to sign into that account.  From there, you can scroll to your credit card from that bank account and select “Next.”  Finally, check everything is in order, click “Next” again, and tap “done.”

And presto!  Your credit card is now linked to your Chase account.

Chase has a very helpful video on its website that can easily guide you through the process.

Suppose you have more than one Chase account, like a business or personal account.  In this case, linking the credit card from one account to the other is still possible.  Let’s assume you want to connect your business credit card to your personal chase account.

For this, you need to sign into your online Chase account.  Then you will see a person icon in the upper right-hand corner.  Click on that icon and then select “profile and settings.”  Next, select “account settings” and then “manage linked accounts.”

Now you need to select the option “show my accounts,” which will display all your Chase accounts.  Then, next to the account, in this case, your business credit card, clock on the option to “link relationship” and then click the same option to confirm.

After that, Chase will let you know if you have successfully linked your accounts, and your business credit card should now appear under your “accounts” tab.

Conclusion

Linking your credit card to your Chase account is extremely easy.  If it is a card from a different bank, you can add it as an external account via the Chase app.  You can link it to your account via the Chase online platform if it is from a different Chase account.
