You can charge your Dell XPS 13 without a charger. This can be done using what is known as a universal adapter. When charging in this manner, remember it is important to verify the voltage.

You can also use a car battery or other external battery charger to charge your laptop.

Can Dell XPS 13 Charge via USB-C?

Yes. You can charge the Dell XPS 13 with a USB-C. It has a barrel type AC connector that also supports charging with the USB-C. Originally, the USB-C to DC cable was created to be utilized when a laptop isn’t supported to charge on the USB-C.

However, the XPS 13 9360 can charge via the port of the USB-C and is fully supported. Yet, it also was made to accommodate a power source that is 45W. Therefore, if the power source only allows 30W from the USB-C port, the battery will charge at a slower rate.

This decreased rate of charging might also affect the overall performance of your machine.

Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 Charger

If your USB-C charger is at least 45W, then the 7390 2-in-1 charger will work to charge your laptop. Over time charging with the USB-C becomes omnipresent, making you want to boost how compatible it is with other components.

In order for this system of charging to be sufficient it must support various levels of voltage output.

Some examples of the levels of voltage it supports–5V,9V,12V,15V, and 20V.

You want to ensure for the fastest charging, your device supports the appropriate levels of voltage. Although the charger has adequate wattage support, if the voltage is incorrect, it decreases the charging speed. An excellent example is the iPhone.

This device provides a rapid charge at 18W with 9V of power provided.

However, if the charger fails to support the output of 9V, it only utilises 5V. In this case, while only accepting the 5V power the iPhone can only collect 10W, although the charger is capable of giving more power.

Can I Charge My XPS 13 From Any Port?

When using the XPS 13 2-in-1 charger, the USB-C is the only port you will be able to use.

The reason is because this device is extremely thin. There is only room for one other port and that is the 3.5 mm jack meant for the headphones.

Since this device has no USB-A port, a dongle will be required for any non-USB-C type accessories.

The Dell XPS 13 has several external ports. It has two USB Type C Thunderbolt ports with a Power Delivery One Display USB 3.1; Gen 2 (type C) port with Power Delivery Displayport. It also comes with an audio port for headphone/microphone combination.

Then there is the video port, and the micro SD card slot port.

Therefore, you cannot charge your XPS 13 from any port on the laptop, as each port serves various purposes.

Can I Charge My Dell Laptop with a USB Cable?

The answer is yes but not really. You can use any USB Cable plugged into any USB port for charging and you will not blow anything up.

However, for a faster, more effective charging of your laptop’s battery it is recommended to use something more powerful.

How Do I Charge My Dell XPS 13 Laptop?

There are two ways you can charge the Dell XPS 13. One is by using the standard cable with a plug-in charger. The other way is to use the USB-C port that is included with your new XPS 13 laptop.

Bet you didn’t realize the purchase of a Dell XPS 13 laptop was such an accomplished piece of machinery.

Final Thoughts

Dell was really clever in the way they designed the XPS 13 laptop and how it is charged.

There are a few ways to charge this machine. One way is with the standard Dell plug in; the other is the USB-C port. The USB-C port is actually a universal charging standard.

What this means is technically it will not matter which USB-C charger you utilize.

The only requirement to use it is to ensure its capability of powering the laptop via the power bank and USB-C charging port.
